Problems and Solutions
You may be able to solve many braces problems temporarily by yourself until you are able to schedule a repair appointment with our office. These problems will not cause delay in your treatment.
| Problem | Home Solution |
| Loose band/ bracket | If band or bracket is still attached to wire, leave it in place. If uncomfortable, place wax on it. If it is a band that comes off, hold on to it and bring it in with you to appointment. If a band or bracket comes off, hold on to it and bring it in with you to appointment. |
| Loose Wire | Try to place wire back into place with tweezers. If that is not possible, clip wire with the sterilized fingernail clippers (provided) behind the last tooth to which it is securely fastened. If any discomfort, place wax on it. |
| Poking Wire | Try to carefully push wire down with a pencil eraser. If not possible, place wax on it. |
| Lost Figure 8 Wire/ Colored Elastic | Not a problem at all. Notify us at next office visit. |
| Soreness | Use warm salt-water rinses and/or whatever pain medication you normally take for a headache. |
| Headgear/ Lipbumper | Sometimes these appliances will not fit properly if they have been bent. Do not force the appliance to fit, call our office and we will schedule accordingly. |
